Does mental ‘illness’ exist?

Mental health issues are hugely significant worldwide, but are we approaching them in the most effective and humane way? A leading professor of psychology says that “everybody’s crazy but nobody’s ill”—meaning that seeing mental distress as an illness is the wrong approach. We need a model of care which supports people who are distressed because of their social and life circumstances.
