Have you experienced compulsory inpatient treatment under the Mental Health Act (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act, 1992? This is an opportunity to talk about your experience with to find out if there are any actions that could be taken to improve the experience for people.
While this research will look at the entire experience of a person being admitted to an inpatient unit under the Mental Health Act to discharge, there will be an emphasis on the legal obligations under the Act and people’s experience of those.
The researcher, who has experienced inpatient treatment under the Mental Health Act aims to give voice to people about an experience which many find difficult for a variety of reasons, and also make sure people’s stories are not reconstructed through the eyes of a mental health professional.
